Bahan Ajar (Bahasa Inggris - Letter)

 

EXPLANATION

A letter is a written message conveyed from one person to another through a medium, usually paper.

A personal letter is written and sent for personal purpose and discusses personal matter. Personal letter is usually written to friend or relative.

A letter consists of some parts:

a. the sender's address *
b. the place & date of writing *
c. the receiver's address *
d. greeting / salutation
e. body
f. closing
g. signature

*) Usually only used in formal letter, not personal.

EXAMPLE

Dear Susan,
     How are you? I miss you my dear sister. It has been more than a year since you continued your study to university in Surabaya. By the way, I have problem with math. It’s getting more difficult and no one teaches me here. I also have attended math course but it doesn’t really help me.
     Sister, it wouldn’t have been really troubled me if you were here and teach me like you used to do. You could explain everything quite clearly. I only have one month before the national exams. Please spend your time with me, for a week, perhaps. I’ll be really thankful if you can make it.

Jakarta, 10 March 2015

Dear mom and dad,
     How are you at home? I’m fine here and I wish you too.
     I’m sorry that it’s been a month since the last time I sent a letter. I’ve just had examination this month and also done some assignments. The deadline of the assignment was last week. That’s why I’ve been quite busy recently. You know, that’s university things.
     The exam has just ended this week and I had to work hard to prepare for it. The result of the exam will be announced next week. I hope the result will be satisfying.
     Mom and dad, I plan to go home next week after receiving the result. I will go by train I think because the bus fare has just increased.
     That’s all for now.
